Approaches to Deal With the Diastema

Published on:2017-7-3

It seems that a coin can be rolled into the mouth through the diastema when the diastema is too big. Whenever the big diastema comes into my mind, the sense of inferiority grows stronger and I will feel that all the people in the world are giving me cold-shoulders. There are even a lot of people ask me directly ,“ why your teeth diastemas are so big?; you must be a beauty without so big diastemas.” My heart is so tired from the big disatemas. Why the diastema is so big and if there is any approach to prevent the diastema from becoming bigger?

Normally, the gaps between the teeth are filled and covered by the gingival tissue.

Under the pathological condition, the height of gingival will decrease gradually. The gingival tissue will become inflamed and then the diastema will become bigger.

Why the Diastema Becomes Bigger?

There are many reasons for bigger diastema. Congenital factors, using toothpick frequently, dental caries and bad prosthesis, etc are all important reasons. But most of the gaps are caused by lesions. Periodontitis is one of the most common lesions.

We hereby focus on the diastema caused by the lesion – periodontitis

Periodontitis is a severe dental disease. But many people don't know or even ignore it. It is like an untimed bomb lurking in the mouth, quietly, but the consequences correspondingly are serious.

In China, there are 85% people over the age of 35 suffering from the periodontitis. Over the age of 65, the average absence of teeth are 11pieces and a complete absence of teeth is 6.8 percent on account of periodontitis. In the year 1986, the dental scholars had conducted a survey and found that tooth extraction caused by periodontitis disease is up to 44 percent.

The initial factor of chronic periodontitis is the microorganism in the dental plaque. The dental plaque will conduct a series of damages: causing inflammation and bleeding of the gingival tissue. If the inflammation cannot be controlled immediately, the gingival and the alveolar bone recession will appear and then the space originally occupied by gingival tissue and alveolar bone between the teeth will be exposed. Eventually, the diastema will become bigger and bigger. If the gingival tissue is damaged severely, the teeth will lose the attachment and the support soil and loose tooth and displacement will appear.

The most horrible thing is that periodontitis can only be controlled but cannot be cured. Generally, the treatment is divided into three stages: cleaning, operation and maintenance. Control your illness as much as possible.

The first stage is teeth cleaning. Remove the partial irritants such as dental calculus and plaque.

The second stage is operation. Periodontal pocket can be removed. The periodontal pocket can be cut off if the periodontal pocket is not deep. For deep periodontal pocket, internal wall curettage, excisional new attachment and a reflection of flap can be applied.

The last stage is maintenance. It’s time to test yourself. In addition to regular cleaning, regular visits to the clinic to know your mouth condition is a necessity. Otherwise, although you have spend so much time and energy on money, it is still a failure if you do not maintain,.

After reading this passage, do you know who is responsible for the diastema? I think you should know in your heart now that if it is congenital, it is not your responsibility, but If it is an acquired disease and you don't pay attention to it and have late diagnosis, then it's your fault.
