Broken Incisors Must be Extracted?

Published on:2018-5-5

It’s not rare to see broken incisors caused by stumbling accidents, raising concerns that whether there is only one way — extraction, to deal with the broken teeth. In fact, that’s not always the case, depending on the severity of damage.

First of all, a timely X-ray checkup should be conducted, to find out if the injury has reached the tooth root. With large part of root remaining, the ill tooth deserves efforts to repair. After all, no dental prosthesis is as good as a natural tooth.

If the crown has suffered from a small defection, dental veneer made of resin composite or porcelain can be sought to restore its shape. Following the procedures, you might as well schedule regular checkups to guarantee an ideal result.

Given that the injury has reached the dental pulp, it is a root canal therapy that should be conducted.

In severe cases that fractures have covered more than half the root, it’s no use saving the original one. At the time you have little choice but to extract it and seek a proper replacement.

In brief, tooth extraction is not the only way to deal with broken incisors, depending on the severity of its damage. If the whole tooth has got out, you need to rinse it with water and return it back to you mouth, then seek a replantation at a closest hospital immediately. It enjoys a high success rate if the tooth is replanted within half an hour after its shedding. With a successful replantation, no other dental prosthesis will be required.
