What Is Periodontitis?

Published on:2019-11-25

Periodontitis is a kind of gum disease involving inflammation of periodontal tissues called periodontium and progressive loss of alveolar bone. Left untreated, it’s possible to result in tooth looseness and even loss. Mostly it’s caused by dental calculus where bacteria reside and grow. With bacterial proliferation, the dental condition will get worse. An X-ray checkup is necessary to make a diagnosis on its severity, followed by a customized treatment plan.
