Why No Extraction at the Time of Toothache

Published on:2018-5-1

In most people’s eyes, it is doctors who are supposed to meet the need of patients and eradicate their pains. That’s why they suffer a perplexity attack at the time when dentists refuse to extract their tooth undergoing pains. In such cases, it’s not the dentists that are to blame. They are following rules of conducting treatment, instead of blindly doing what patients require, with a view to circumvent medical accidents.

To our knowledge, all kinds of dental treatments should be conducted after eliminating inflammation, which serves as a rudimentary rule. It explains why dentists won’t suggest a tooth in pain, indicating inflammation, be extracted promptly. Sometimes there may be exceptional cases, though.

Various factors should be taken into consideration before deciding whether an aching tooth can be extracted or not, such as the difficulty of extraction, the size of potential wound and the overall health of patients. With extraction conducted on an inflammatory tooth, chances are that inflammation will proliferate to other areas and bring about other complications. Besides, the process will be much more painful, in that anesthesia fails to produce a good performance.

Especially in cases of inflammatory wisdom teeth, you’d better seek proper treatment to get inflammation under control prior to removing them. For the elderly with poor overall health, or living with chronic diseases, they are not allowed to undergo tooth removal when there is inflammation. In addition, it’s also inappropriate to take out a tooth with multiple roots and no sign of loosening. As for those easy to get removed, like loosening teeth, you can consider pulling them out following the elimination of inflammation.
