Extraction better than RCT?

Published on:2019-1-1

In some people’s opinion, it would be better to conduct an extraction than a root canal therapy since the latter will make you suffer more. Well, that is all wet. Put it simply, RCT is an effort to save your natural tooth, while extraction means you just give up on it. All too often, dentists will suggest to conduct a RCT instead of removing a tooth which is still salvageable.

    1.Extraction

Go visit a dentist and have the tooth removed. Everything will be done in a short period of time. Doesn’t it seem quite simple? In reality, however, it’s not as simple as it seems. A responsible dentist won’t easily remove a tooth that remains repairable.

Indeed, the process of extraction can be finished very quickly, maybe within a few minutes. But what should you do next? Except for the removal of wisdom teeth, dental prostheses are required subsequently, for the sake of both aesthetic and functional performance.

On one hand, it will cost you more. On the other hand, no dental prosthesis is as good as a natural tooth. Teeth are such a precious asset to everyone. So, it’s important to raise your awareness of taking care of and saving them.

    2.Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy, also known as endodontic treatment, refers to removing eroded tissues and devitalizing infected nerves, followed by a gutta-percha filling. People may get nervous and worried when nerves are involved. In fact, dental nerves serve to supply teeth with necessary nutrients. With pulp devitalized, treated teeth will become more fragile. Therefore, a crown restoration should be sought after a properly conducted RCT, for the sake of protection.

Generally speaking, RCT is an effective effort to eliminate pain caused by issues like pulpitis and save the natural tooth. It would be advisable to get more detailed information about it and follow your dentist’s professional suggestion, instead of pursuing extraction blindly.     Compared with tooth extraction, root canal therapy may require more visits to your dentist. Besides, it’s normal to have mild pain before the procedure is completely done. Since the procedure is quite hard to operate, you’d better have it done by an experienced and skillful dentist, ensuring a successful result.
