Dry Socket

    Many people may have experienced tooth extraction during their childhood. It’s quite normal to confront some discomfort afterward, which usually is within our endurance. However, if the pain gets more intense as days go by, it may be a symptom of developing dry socket. 

    

    It’s reported that a small percentage of population (about 2% to 5%) will develop dry socket after a tooth extraction. Undoubtedly dry socket will make them feel uncomfortable. Fortunately, it can be cured easily.

    

    


    The socket here refers to a hole in the alveolar bone, caused by the removal of tooth. Generally speaking, there will be a blood clot forming in the socket to protect the underneath bone and nerves. Sometimes, the clot can be dissolved by accident, resulting in exposure of the bone and nerves to anything comes into mouth, including air, food and drinks. In such cases, chances are that there will be an infection and severe pain, which may last for five or six days.
