As we all know, daily brushing and flossing are of great significance to keep good oral hygiene, including removing food debris and dental plaque. However, it fails to remove dental calculus (tartar), which refers to a sticky film of accumulative food debris and bacteria. It will firmly attach to your teeth and even spread underneath your gum line, making you susceptible to dental problems. Dental calculus is home to a large amount of bacteria which will digest food debris to achieve growth and produce acids that will decay you teeth. That’s the very beginning of dental caries. If left untreated, the amount of bacteria will be on rise, deteriorating your dental condition and leading to gum disease. In order to keep good oral hygiene, it’s necessary to remove dental calculus in a timely manner. So it’s recommended to schedule regular dental cleaning every year to prevent calculus from building up.
