Generally speaking, orthodontic has no side effect unless you have it in an unqualified or unprofessional dental clinic. Dentist’s qualification and experience is very important for the success of orthodontic. Then what are the side effects might occur? 

1.Side effects to dental pulp.

At the orthodontics initial stage, slight and temporary inflammation might occur. Patients might feel slight pain and discomfort in the first few days. However, if the dentist operates improperly, pain will be severe and lasts for a long time. 

2.Side effects to dental root.

In the course of orthodontic, reconstruction by absorption and proliferation in the root surface is ongoing. If dentist adjusts the orthodontics appliance too hard, the reconstruction is restricted. 

3.Side effects to alveolar bone.

Orthodontics appliance will lower the height of alveolar bone and make difficult to keep oral hygiene which increases the gingivitis rate. It is very important to keep oral hygiene after having the orthodontics appliance.

4.Side effects to tooth.

In general condition, every tooth has a certain mobility to buffer the chewing pressure. However, orthodontics appliance increases the mobility and loosens teeth. So the appliance should not be adjusted too tight.
