Can Proximal Caries between incisors be filled?

Published on:2018-8-2

As we know, it’s necessary to fill tooth cavities in time. More commonly, caries happens to occlusal surface of molars. But, if there is caries occurring on the proximal surface between the two incisors, can it be filled as well? According to dentists from AKJ Dental Hospital, dental filling can be sought for all kinds of caries which hasn’t extended its reach to pulp, regardless its position.

That means, proximal caries between incisors can be filled as well. First of all, an exam should be run to see whether the caries has spread to pulp tissues or not. If not, then filling is enough to fix the problem. Your dentist will remove eroded tissues and create a hole for filling material, which is set to perform well in both appearance and function.

If left untreated, dental caries especially that happens to deciduous teeth, may well progress into more severe problems like pulpitis or periapical periodontitis within a short length of time. Worse, periapical lesion will not only result in more pain, but also adversely affect the future eruption of permanent teeth. When there is any sign of caries, such as black spot over teeth, you have to take a check-up and seek proper treatment in time, no matter it happens to deciduous or permanent teeth. Remember, a delayed treatment will only make condition worse and make you suffer more.

Besides, parents should help their children develop good habits to maintain oral health. For instance, it’s necessary to brush teeth twice a day in a correct way, rinse mouth after every meal and limit the intake of sugar. Also, measures including dental fluoridization and fit and fissure sealing should be conducted as precaution. After all, prevention is better than cure.
